At Rappaport Consulting LLC, our goal is to use our experience and extensive industry knowledge to perform thorough fire investigations objectively and present our findings in a clear and concise manner. We possess the Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) accreditation from the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), California Conference of Arson Investigators (CCAI), National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and the Pro Board. We can provide services anywhere, depending on the needs of the client.
Rappaport Consulting LLC is owned and operated by Robert Rappaport who has over 27 years of experience in the fire service and has investigated over 2,500 fires in over 20 years as a fire investigator. In addition to serving extensively in expert witness functions for attorney clients, Rappaport is a California State Fire Marshal Instructor instructing students in beginning and advanced fire investigation techniques, complex fire investigations, and many other tasks. Rappaport has an outstanding ability for speaking to audiences describing even the most complex of cases in a way that can be easily understood. This proves instrumental when testifying in front of a jury.
Our experience puts us in the unique position of having worked both with the public and private sectors as well as ongoing involvement in the industry as a Chief Investigator. Rappaport is very proficient with identifying subrogation potential and liability issues in a wide range of cases. We have full knowledge of fire investigations as well as an in-depth understanding of what it takes to be an effective communicator in a legal setting.

our services are comprehensive
Unlike some fire investigation firms that are only able to perform certain functions, our services are comprehensive and we attend to all aspects of the case. The majority of our work is in an expert witness role, working closely with attorneys to provide unbiased testimony and identify both the strengths and weaknesses of a client’s case. We have worked with public and private attorneys, as well as insurance companies.
Comprehensive Investigations
Accompanying our work in the legal arena, we also conduct comprehensive fire, arson, and explosion investigations to determine the exact origin and cause of these incidents as well as teach others how to do the same. All of our fire investigations are performed in compliance with NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator and NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations guidelines.

With a teaching background, we understand the need to deliver testimony that is clear and easy to understand for juries, judges, and other mediators. In our expert witness role, we exemplify the highest levels of objectivity and professionalism.
